The white carbon black production process is mainly based on the precipitation method. There are more polar groups such as hydroxyl groups on the surface of the white carbon black produced by this process, which makes the white carbon black have problems such as adsorption and secondary agglomeration, which affects the white carbon black in the world. Dispersion during mixing. The surface modification of silica can significantly improve its application performance. At present, the five surface modification methods of silica are surface graft modification, coupling agent modification, ionic liquid modification, macromolecule interface modification and combined modification.

  1. The principle of surface grafting modification is to graft macromolecular polymers with the same properties as the matrix on the surface of silica by chemical grafting. This method can enhance the force between particles and the matrix and change the silica. The polarity of the black surface improves the dispersion of silica.

  2. Coupling agent modification is currently the most widely used modification method. The principle is that some functional groups on the coupling agent react with the hydroxyl groups on the surface of silica, by changing the group structure and The distribution improves the compatibility and dispersibility of the silica and the matrix. This method has the advantages of good effect and high controllability of the reaction.

  3. Silica modified by ionic liquid is suitable for green production, and the modification effect is general. It has the advantages of conductivity, stability, solubility, non-volatility, and pollution-free.

  4. Macromolecular interface modification mainly refers to the fact that the molecular main chain of the macromolecular polymer of the polar group in the modifier can introduce more polar epoxy groups and maintain the basic main chain structure, thereby improving whiteness. The compatibility between the carbon black particles and the matrix achieves a better interface modification effect.

  5. Combination modification is to improve the overall performance of rubber products through the combination of silica and other materials and combining their respective advantages.
