Most of the production of carbon black is produced and processed by oil, so the raw material for producing carbon black is usually raw material oil, but there are several kinds of raw material oil for carbon black production. Carbon Black Industry Network will introduce to you what are the raw materials for producing carbon black? What raw materials are used for carbon black?

The raw materials for producing carbon black are divided into coal, heavy oil, anthracene oil, natural gas, heavy oil, fuel oil and so on. Carbon black produced from oil is called lamp black. It can be said that the quality of raw material oil is closely related to the quality of carbon black, which not only has a significant impact on the production efficiency of carbon black, but also is one of the important factors that determine the quality of carbon black.

According to the current carbon black market in my country, there are mainly two raw material oils for the production of carbon black, namely coal tar and ethylene tar. Coal tar is one of the products of high-temperature dry distillation of coal. It is a by-product of coking plants. The distillate oil of coal tar is divided into anthracene oil and anti-corrosion oil, and the content of aromatics is higher than that of the residual oil mentioned above. Ethylene tar is the product of ethylene cracking unit, and it also has pyrolysis fuel oil or ethylene residue. The quality of this residual oil varies with the raw materials used for cracking. The raw materials for cracking are divided into diesel oil, naphtha and light hydrocarbons, etc. The higher the density of the raw materials, the higher the content of aromatics, but the higher the asphaltenes.

At present, coal tar is the remaining product after production and processing in coking plants, and refers to crude carbon black raw material oil. The raw material oil distilled from coal tar, that is, anthracene oil and anti-corrosion oil are obtained after distillation of coal tar, which refers to high-quality carbon black raw material oil. Carbon black feedstock oil is basically composed of components such as alkanes, aromatics, and pitch, and the characteristics interfere with the quality of carbon black to a large extent. The main requirements of carbon black production for raw oil are high content of aromatics and less asphaltenes and impurities.
