Japan's Asahi Carbon Black Co., Ltd. has obtained the ISCC PLUS certification from the international sustainable development and carbon certification agency, and will use recycled tire oil to produce carbon black to reduce CO2 emissions.

According to "Asahi Carbon Co., Ltd.", Japan's Asahi Carbon Black recently received ISCC PLUS certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Agency. This certification is an international system for the sustainability certification of products produced from biomass or renewable raw materials.

It is expected that starting from August this year, the company will begin to use waste tire recycled oil as a raw material for carbon black production. Currently, carbon black is mainly manufactured using feedstock oils from petrochemical systems. However, in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, the petrochemical supply chain needs to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, so reducing CO2 emissions from black carbon becomes necessary.

In this context, Asahi Carbon Black Co., Ltd. aims to reduce CO2 emissions in the carbon black product supply chain, promotes the use of recycled tire oil to produce carbon black, and has obtained ISCC PLUS certification. With this certification, carbon black produced from sustainable and renewable resources can be distributed and sold under quality guidelines. Asahi Carbon Black is committed to further improving the earth's ecological environment through sustainable corporate activities.
