According to a report by "Rubber World," on June 25, 2023, Cancarb Limited, a subsidiary of Japan's Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd., entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with RD Abbott, becoming the exclusive distributor of their Thermax® brand of thermal carbon black in Mexico. This strategic partnership aims to expand the market share of thermal black and provide exceptional technical support to customers.

RD Abbott's Mexican subsidiary, RD Abbott de México s.de R.L.de C.V., will operate and manage local distribution operations. Since 2017, RD Abbott has been the agent for Cancarb's products in the United States and Canada.

As the new comprehensive service distributor for Cancarb in Mexico, RD Abbott will handle inventory, distribution, and provide technical support for a range of Thermax® products, including N990, N990CG, N990REF, N990UP, N991, N991UP, N907, N908, and N908UP. These grades of medium thermal carbon black play a crucial role in reinforcing tire rubber compounds and serve as essential components in various rubber products, functioning as colorants, UV stabilizers, and critical conductive or insulating elements.

Jim Cottington, Supply Chain Leader at RD Abbott, stated, "With nearly 75 years of experience in the elastomer industry, RD Abbott has become a materials science, engineering solutions, and distribution services provider. Our rubber industry expert team, including Technical Account Managers and Business Managers, is committed to addressing the challenges faced by our customers effectively and efficiently. RD Abbott's 'Application Curiosity' drives our handling of every technical consultation and sales service."

Cancarb is renowned for its leading position in the global medium thermal carbon black market, with its products manufactured at the Medicine Hat facility in Alberta, Canada. Notably, Cancarb is a pioneer in developing medium thermal carbon black with extremely low levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Cancarb and RD Abbott have successfully collaborated on several technical studies, including advancements in elastomeric sealing performance for hydrogen fuel systems and the enhancement of cost-efficiency, processability, and durability for construction sealants.

Cancarb's decision to replace its previous distributor with RD Abbott reflects the manufacturer's commitment to gaining a larger market share and providing exceptional technical support and customer service.

RD Abbott is not only a distributor for Cancarb's thermal black but also holds an exclusive agreement to distribute selected polymers from Arlanxeo, a specialty chemicals company, throughout Mexico. Additionally, the company is the sole authorized distributor in Mexico for silicone products under the brand name "SILASTIC" by Dow Chemical Company.
